Africa and South America, on the other hand, were still losing forest land, but at a slower rate than previously. The Global Forest Goals Report (United Nation, 2021). New Zealand's government established the One Billion Trees Programme in 2019 to improve the country's environmental, economic, social, and cultural benefits. By 2028, the campaign hopes to have planted one billion trees.
